Costa Rica has a variety of microclimates and altitudes. An expert will explain how these different factors favour the taste of Costa Rican coffee.

  • The tour begins in the seedbed. Here you will see and have explained the development process of the coffee plant right up to the point of harvesting. You will also learn about the history of the estate, its owners, the production and varieties of plants, the geography of the area and the traditional ways of plant cultivation.
  • The second station a hydraulic powered processing plant, the oldest water wheel in the country and in 2003 declared a Listed Building. In the receiver you can see the first classification of the beans, afterwards the process of de-husking the first and second quality beans.
  • Next the fermentation process in large tanks, which is most significant for the taste of the coffee. The coffee beans are now ready to be peeled, and roasted or exported.
  • The last stop, you visit the roasting plant Café Tres Generaciones, here you have the different types of roasts explained.
  • Finally the Doka Estate souvenir shop, here you can find the coffee vacuum packed to take home. You can also purchase handicrafts produced by Costa Rican craftsmen.
