Day Tour
Cable Car & Aerial Tram

Located just 1 hour from San Jose, after crossing the Continental Divide you reach first the Braulio Carillo National Park and then the 1000-acre private rainforest reserve. You cross a small river and see the nesting sites of various birds. The trails are well marked, and with a little luck you may encounter a Tapir foraging en route to the visitor centre.

At the visitor centre you can learn all about the construction of the cable car and are subsequently divided into smaller groups. With a Nature Guide you now hike (optional) on well-maintained trails whilst receiving an introduction to the flora and fauna of the tropical rainforest (duration 45-90 minutes).

Now you board the cable car. Each cable car can take five passengers plus a Tour Guide who underway will point out the different tree and bird species that inhabit this unique environment. The trip takes about an hour and fifteen minutes taking you over hills and the forest canopy in a tree world overgrown with mosses, ferns and orchids. During the Aerial Tour you will make several stops.
